Overview

Keyano College is a post-secondary college, a comprehensive community institution located in the regional municipality of Wood Buffalo established in 1965. Keyano College offers specialized, skilled training and serves as a direct link between essential industry training and community. Keyano College is home to more than 2800 fulltime students and over 13,000 part time students. The college has a total of three campuses- a main campus in Fort McMurray, another industrial campus in Gregoire Park and a new campus at Fort Chipewyan. There are outreach campuses at Anzac, Janvier and Conklin.

Keyano College offers 1 and 2 years university transfer programs in disciplines ranging from general science to fine arts. There are a number of diplomas, certificates, adult upgrading, trades preparation and apprenticeship programs. The college is also a member of the Alberta Rural Development Network. Keyano College plays an active role by collaborating with other post-secondary institutions to increase access to learning opportunities for students.

Keyano College serves a wider learner population in other provinces and territories through consortia such as eCampusAlberta and Alberta-North. Keyano College predominantly focuses on community opportunities beyond the classroom that gives the students opportunities to develop spiritually, intellectually, physically and socially. It houses students from numerous countries and ethnicities who get together at Keyano College and foster communal harmony.

Admission Requirements

Students interested in credit programs are required to apply using the province-wide online application at ApplyAlberta. We start processing your application on the date we receive it, so we recommend applying as early as possible

Find out when to apply

For most programs, applications are accepted beginning October 1 for the next Fall, Winter, and Spring semester. Please submit your application as soon as possible as many programs fill up quickly.

Apply online through ApplyAlberta and choose Keyano College as your institution of choice. You must pay a non-refundable $50 (domestic) or $100 (international) application fee with a credit card to submit your application. If you choose to apply to more than one program, you must submit another application.

Accomodation

On-Campus Housing: Students can book an appointment with the learning strategists and apply for an academic accommodation. The strategist will allocate accommodation as per the student’s need and requirements. They college provides its students fully furnished apartments and there are units for students and family housing units. The students have other options like dormitory as well. Every unit is furnished with a kitchenette with basic cooking applications as well.

Off-Campus Housing: The off campus hoses can be rooms for rent, studio apartments, apartment flats and much more that are located within the vicinity of the institution. The students should come well in advance and look for residence options before the classes resume. The student associations at the university help students out with off campus accommodation and assist them with the process.

Homestay: Coming to a new country can be exciting, but also intimidating. The Homestay program partners you with a family, who will help you to adjust to your new city by offering advice and information on getting around. You may choose to stay with the family for the rest of your study period, or just until you find your own apartment. While in homestay, you will also have the advantage of being in an environment in which English is the primary language.
