Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Program Overview

Thompson Rivers University School of Nursing (SON) has a rich history in providing nursing education over the past 35-plus years. The Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing Degree Program (BScN) has been in existence since the year 1992.

A significant emphasis in the program is that the graduates make a positive difference to the health and well-being of all people. Many of the faculty and graduates of the program have received awards and other recognition for their leadership in nursing education, nursing practice or nursing research.

The BScN is a four-year program of studies to prepare students to be competent nurses in a variety of health care practice agencies (Institutional, Community and International), and with people who have a variety of health concerns with diverse social and economic backgrounds.

The BScN program is known for its commitment to global health. The immersion learning that the program offers in Canada and abroad (e.g., Samoa and Norway) has resulted in very positive learning experiences for both students and communities.

Upon completion of the BScN Program, graduates are eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). Upon successful completion of the NCLEX you apply for registration to the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP) to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Program Highlights
Prepare yourself for the challenges and rewards of the nursing profession. The BScN program gives you the technical knowledge, human understanding and practical skills to administer responsible and client-centered care as a registered nurse (RN) in a variety of health care practice agencies (institutional, community and international) and with people who have a variety of health concerns.
