The International Foundation Year will develop your academic knowledge and English language skills to prepare you for the first year of your chosen undergraduate degree. This is a two-semester foundation programme with a choice of four pathways.
Is the International Foundation Year right for you?
The International Foundation Year is perfect for international students who do not meet the academic qualifications to study the intensive International Year One programme, but who wish to progress to the first year of an undergraduate degree. It is tailored to students that are looking to improve their academic knowledge and English language skills to get the most out of their university studies.
About this route
The International Foundation Year in Business, Management & Law will prepare you for an undergraduate degree in fields such as accounting, finance, law, marketing and logistics.
You will study core modules, which are general skills subjects, and optional modules tailored to your chosen area of study, all of which are important for your academic development.
Why study Business, Management & Law?
Subject pathways
Choose your subject pathway based on your progression aims, allowing you to pick the modules which both interest you and will help you in your future career. Choose to focus on either:
Economics and Politics
In today’s globalised society, economics and political systems have become increasingly interlinked. This course gives you the chance to study both disciplines together, understanding how the theory relates to what’s going on in society today, and how it affects the social, political and economic problems that societies are facing.
On this course you’ll study modules from both politics and economics. The economics side of things will help you understand how resources are distributed and used from both a macroeconomic and microeconomic perspective. This will involve statistics and assessment tools used by today’s economists to analyse policy and international trends. The politics modules will include topics such as the study of political institutions, as well as the social and political issues that are affecting us nationally and globally.
We’ll help you develop personal, professional and academic skills that could make all the difference when pursuing your chosen career. Whether you want to work in local or central government, management consultancy, education, industry or manufacturing, it’s all about building up the transferable skills that employers are looking for.
We also received 100% overall student satisfaction for politics in the National Student Survey 2020.
