Program Overview

NAIT’s 2-year Dental Assisting Technology diploma program will give you the hands-on skills necessary to immediately support dentists and hygienists in their practice. From infection prevention to care procedures, dental sciences and dental practice administration, our program will prepare you to be an important member of the dental health care team.

In our program, students obtain knowledge, skills and attitudes required for a successful career in dental assisting.

What You Will Learn
Hands-on, industry-relevant training
Our training approach emphasizes practical experience in the skills and technology necessary to be a successful Dental Assistant. Our program features the following:

  • approximately 1730 hours of learning over 2 years
  • small group learning, which allows for the optimum student-to-instructor ratio
  • practical, hands-on approach to training in labs and practicum placements
  • on-site dental clinics with general public patients

You can expect to spend, on average:

  • 28 to 30 hours per week attending classes over the course of a semester
  • 15 to 20 hours per week studying and completing class assignments
