Program Overview

MSc International Business is an innovative flagship programme designed to help you build a strong understanding of the way organisations operate globally, and help develop specialist skills that enable you to work effectively across national borders.

The programme gives you the opportunity to explore international business from a number of perspectives, including economics, finance, strategy, marketing, management, human resource, and supply chain. There will also be the opportunity to conduct an independent major research project in your area of interest.

The programme offers 3 award routes (See ‘Course and Module Structure’ for details):

One-year full-time MSc International Business (September & January entry)
Two-year MSc International Business (Sandwich) (September entry only)
Two-year MSc International Business with Advanced Research (September entry only)

Throughout the programme, you will gain a unique combination of skills sought after by employers all over the world. Our graduates from MSc International Business programme tend to work in different fields and sectors all over the world.

Work Placement

The MSc International Business (Sandwich) programme provides you (Semester A entry ONLY) with the opportunity to undertake a work placement as part of your studies, normally a minimum of 36 weeks full-time equivalent placement activity.

You must normally achieve a Semester A grade average of 60% to proceed onto the placement. You are responsible to identify and apply for placements, and are supported by the University’s Careers and Employment Service, and the School’s ‘Preparation for the Workplace’ module. You will typically need to secure a placement by the end of Semester B in order to process the necessary paperwork required.

The ‘Sandwich’ award requires you to successfully complete a minimum of 36 weeks full-time ‘Professional Work Placement’, and pass the ‘Work Placement Portfolio’, milestone reports during their placement.

Those who are not academically eligible or not able to secure a placement by a given deadline will be transferred to the two-year ‘with Advanced Research’ route.

We look for enterprising and aspirational students who want to excel in an international university. If this sounds like you, then we offer several non-repayable scholarships to international students.

Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship
Available to all applicants who pay overseas fees to the University. The University will consider your application for scholarships looking at your interest in your chosen course, motivation for studying as well as your future career aspirations after graduation.
No additional scholarship application required to be considered.
Amount: £1,000 & £2,000 for September intake.

20% Study Abroad Discount
Students who have completed an exchange programme at the University of Hertfordshire may be entitled to a 20% Tuition Fee discount on selected postgraduate taught programmes.

Sports Scholarships
If so, you could be eligible for a University of Hertfordshire Sports Scholarship.
Sports Scholarships combine a range of support and services for exceptionally talented athletes to successfully train, compete and achieve both sporting and academic aspirations. If you wish to be considered for a sports scholarship please fill in a form. All applications are assessed on an individual basis and awards may differ between athletes.

There are various options through which a student can get a post study work visa in the UK.
Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur Visa for the graduates with a genuine and credible business idea.
Tier 2 (General) is the leading immigration visa to work in the UK.
Tier 4 Doctorate Extension Scheme is for students who have completed their Ph.D. and is valid for 12 months for them to work, look for work or set up a business.
Tier 5 Youth Mobility is for individuals of certain countries like Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, and New Zealand aged between 18 -30 who wish to move to the UK.
Tier 5 GAE is for individuals who want to come to the UK for work experience, training, research or a fellowship.
UK Ancestry is for individuals who are a citizen of a commonwealth and plan to work in the UK and have a grandparent who was born in the UK.
