Diploma in Environmental Sciences - Environmental Conservation Reclamation

Program Overview

Conserve and manage a critical habitat for an endangered species. Restore a wetland. Both are examples of how you will make a difference as a conservation and restoration ecology (CARE) major graduate.
Ecosystems are at the heart of CARE.

You start by learning about plants, animals, water and soils. Move on to what lives, eats and grows in a particular ecosystem. Then, you'll be able to use best practices and land management techniques to renew and restore anything from grasslands to a forest.

In field labs, you’ll gain applied skills as you:

  • Discover local ecosystems including forests, grasslands, riparian areas and wetlands
  • Learn to identify, classify and survey plants and animals
  • Classify wetland and grassland communities
  • Perform health and site assessments on natural, agricultural and industrial sites
  • Assess, inventory and map disturbed landscapes
  • Apply enhancement and restoration techniques
  • Collect field data and do ecological surveys
