Program Overview
Students learn announcing, writing, news/sports, sales, audio production and related equipment operation, plus coordination of music, news and commercial scheduling systems. This program has two intakes per year, both fall and winter.
The Radio & Television – Radio program delivers intensive hands-on training through a non-traditional approach, providing students with experience in all operational aspects of broadcast media.
This program was profiled in Project President, where NAIT President Dr. Glenn Feltham went live on the air at NAIT's campus radio station NR92 and recorded promo pieces in the recording studio, typical activities that students will do.
Radio requires employees to work effectively in team environments and have above-average communication skills. The Radio & Television - Radio program at NAIT places a great deal of emphasis on developing and enhancing those skills. For example, students will be expected to plan and make decisions with classmates, support decisions made by the team and respect the ideas and opinions of others.
Graduates of the Radio & Television - Radio program typically find entry-level employment in commercial radio stations, television stations, production houses and recording studios.
